Scripps eyes acquiring stations for Ion Network
The broadcaster is just waiting for the FCC to toss its media ownership rules first.

Executives at the E. W. Scripps Company are hopeful that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is responsive to demands from the industry that media ownership rules are too onerous in the era of Big Technology — and, once that happens, they’re totally open for business.
On a conference call with investors this week following the company’s first quarter (Q1) earnings report for 2025, Scripps Chief Executive Officer Adam Symson said the broadcaster is eager for the FCC to toss media ownership rules so that local TV station owners can consolidate.
