Report: TV fans increased their use of traditional linear sources in Q4
At the same time, streaming video platforms — which maintain dominance across all product categories — saw their share of time spent with TV decrease during the last four months of 2024.
Television fans in the U.S. and Canada increased their use of traditional linear sources of programming — specifically, broadcast and cable TV — during the last three months of 2024, according to a report released last week.
The report, based on a consumer trends survey, showed traditional linear television was the only segment that grew its audience base during the fourth quarter (Q4) of the year, while TV fans pulled back slightly on other platforms like subscription video on-demand and free, ad-supported streaming TV services.
