Comet to debut WWE documentary series in October
Sinclair-owned multicast network Comet will start airing a documentary series focused on the most-iconic rivalries from World Wrestling Entertainment.
The show, appropriately called “WWE Rivals,” features a round-table discussion between professional wrestlers, who break down the biggest rivalry storylines and business matters to impact the WWE and other brands throughout the years.
WWE Rivals first aired on A&E, which has picked up the show for a fifth season. Sinclair has licensed a handful of episodes from the show’s back catalog, and will air them on Saturdays, starting October 4.
Some of the episodes that will appear on Comet include:
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock (Season 1, Episode 3)
John Cena vs. Edge (Season 1, Episode 7)
Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant (Season 2, Episode 1)
The Rock vs. John Cena (Season 2, Episode 3)
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns (Season 2, Episode 6)
It is the first time that WWE Rivals will air on broadcast TV, and the program will help break some new ground for Comet: Since it launched in 2015, Comet’s programming has typically involved scripted shows themed around science fiction and fantasy. Over the years, Comet has leaned more into the idea of celebrating different types of fandoms — and professional wrestling certainly has its fans.
In addition to WWE Rivals, Comet will start airing episodes from “Xena: Warrior Princess” on September 29. Other shows aired on Comet include “The X Files,” “Stargate: SG-1” and “Grimm.”
Comet is widely available on digital broadcast television across the country, and is adding new affiliates in Sacramento (KXTV, Channel 10.5) and Waco (KAGS-LD, Channel 23.5) between now and early October. Both stations are owned by TEGNA.
Comet is also offered on Dish Network; streaming platforms YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo and Sling TV; and as a free stream on the Comet website.
